On Monday night, head chefs – Becky and Baker – of 39 Carden Street and Baker Street Station joined the Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers of Guelph to host #PopUpSoup. The night was put together to help support the Guelph Wellington Women In Crisis‘ Marianne’s Place, which suffered a devastating flood in February.
The event was a fantastic success, with community members showing up to assemble batches of Baker’s Tikka Masala, Chili Con Carden, Beef Bolognese, and Coq-au-vin. Participants were also greeted with fantastic food and drinks courtesy of 39 Carden Street.
The night was full of delicious ingredients, incredible aromas, lots of laughter, and an amazing outpouring of support for the Guelph Wellington Women In Crisis. In addition to the four different dishes being prepared for the shelter, several hundred dollars were also raised to help support Marianne’s Place.
It was truly an amazing night, and reminded us that Guelph is a fantastic city. The outpouring of community support was inspiring and overwhelming – but definitely not unexpected. We’re truly fortunate to live in such a caring and compassionate city.
Thanks to Soup Sisters and Brother Brothers of Guelph. Thanks to the awesome owners, chefs, and staff at 39 Carden Street and Baker Street Station. And huge thanks to everyone in the community who came out to help support Marianne’s Place.
